When Tim Hwang http://www.fabulousbitches.org/ was a senior at Harvard, he decided to stage a convention that would be the physical manifestation of the Internet, and that event, ROFLcon www.roflcon.org, succeeded in unleashing sheer ridiculousness upon the world. Being a geek and missing it is like being a hippie and having missed Woodstock in 1969, but now you have a chance to catch some of the scholarly lunacy if you couldn't be at the original convention in April at MIT.
