"
agreed.
I was actually taken back a little when she said "from the trailer, it looks stupid" Not sure how she judges movies, but I've never heard anyone call a movie "stupid", bad, terrible, unfunny, etc. but never stupid. In any case, trailers tend to do at least 1 of 2 things for a movie. Either ruin some big plot point or misrepresent the movie. I really like Jeff Canata's approach. Don't watch it, unless it is that super early teaser that basically tells you nothing (ala the new Star Trek)

I think Sarah should see Tropic Thunder and make her own judgment of the movie. As a show that provides suggestions for entertainment, she should do her own research and not listen to a special interest group's PR rhetoric for or against.

I think Sarah should skip Tropic Thunder. Special Olympics has put out an official boycott of this movie. The movie frequently uses the word "retard" and portrays it as something to make fun of. In the spirit of the 2008 Summer Olympics, I think we should support the Special Olympics and boycott Tropic Thunder.

Ah Underworld; the unexpected "goth movie" for this generation. :)
I liked that band (hadn't heard them before). I have no problem with melodic death metal. My favourite melodic death metal band would be the seminal death metal band: In Flames.
I like both their heavy stuff

And their more controversial (for direction, not content) lighter stuff:

...
Okay, okay, so technically, this is more like the stuff that has split the fanbase. It's alright, but definitely a far cry from their earlier work.

Moujan -- Hilarious!
Sarah -- HOLY CRAP! Thanks for prowling... That website will definitely come in handy, thanks!
Now... What was the song title & artist for the song that played when the office dummy got thrown on the floor and at the end on the bloopers? Very familiar..... I just can't put a name to it.

"Death Grunts and Death Growls or "cookie monster" vocals as you and some others call them are cool
but just screaming thinking it makes you metal is just annoying.
Slipknot is ok but please don't use them in the same sentence as death metal. Not even close to death metal."
Agreed in regards to the screaming. I can take some death grunts, but I don't usually get much out of entire songs that only feature them. It's hard for me to find any melody (in my mind, melody is important to good music).
It's part of the same reason why I can't stand gangsta rap (not that I can tolerate much of any rap); they rip out the melody in favour of just talking through the music.
As for Slipknot, I've always heard them categorized as death metal, or thrash metal.
Though according to Wikipedia, they more often get categorized as nu metal, which is just beyond me. How can one possibly think that Slipknot sounds anything remotely like Korn, or Linkin Park?

I've never been much into the "cookie monster" style screams of the heavier metal. The furthest I've gone in the death metal direction would be Slipknot, and that was mostly because they still interspersed the growls and screams with a melodic chorus.
